My professor assign us to do an essay and he gave us two statements that we have to argue in both the pros and cons of the first crusade focusing on what happened and what did the crusades did to the jewish, hungarians, greeks and arabs. The two statements are:
1- Crusades was a military expansion of Europe.
2- crusade were a disruption of culture.
my professor only gave us the the following books that we can use to do this essay: 1- Holy war, the crusades and their impact on todays world. By: KAREN ARMSTRONG 2- The global experience. By: Philip F. Riley
3-Arab historians of the crusades. By Francesco Gabrieli.
At the end of the whole essay put a conclusion stating why you liked or did not like one of the three authors. What do you learn, like and don't like about the first crusade.
PLEASE DO NOT USE WIKIPEDIA FOR THIS ESSAY OR WEB PAGES SIMILAR TO THIS ONE BECAUSE MY PROFESSOR SPECIFIED THAT WE COULD ONLY LOOK UP ON THE BOOKS THAT I MENTIONED BEFORE. HE WILL NOTICE IF SOMETHING IS NOT RIGHT OR DOES NOT MAKE ANY SENCE.
sorry for the inconvenience but i found some information in wikipedia and i specifically told you that you can't use the internet to do this assignment (NO WIKIPEDIA), my professor will notice if something is taken from wiki podia and also you used another three writers that i did no mention i told you that the only three writers you can use are: 1. Karen Armstrong.Holy war, the crusades and their impact on today’s world. London:Constable & Robinson, 1980. 2. Philip F.Riley.The global experience.Cambridge, 1991.
3. Francesco Gabrieli.Arab historians of the crusades. New York: Routledge1998. An additional goal soon became the principal objective—the Christian reconquest of the sacred city of Jerusalem and the Holy Land and the freeing of the Eastern Christians from Islamic rule. During the crusade, knights and peasants from many nations of Western Europe travelled over land and by sea, first to Constantinople and then on towards Jerusalem, as crusaders; the peasants greatly outnumbered the knights. Peasants and knights were split into separate armies; however, because the peasants were not as well-trained in combat as the knights, their army failed to reach Jerusalem. The knights arrived at Jerusalem, launched an assault on the city, and captured it in July 1099, massacring many of the city's Muslim and Jewishinhabitants. They also established the crusader states of the Kingdom of Jerusalem, the County of Tripoli, the Principality of Antioch, and theCounty of...
